Message from the Associate Dean

Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. We are home to over 1800 undergraduate students, 200 graduate students at the Master and PhD levels, and 45 faculty members who are committed to offering students a unique learning experience that combine the pursuit of academic excellence, research opportunities, hands-on skills using state of the art hardware equipment and software tools.

We are proud of providing market-oriented Engineering programs that are designed to equip students with the skills required in the evolving 21st century marketplace. Accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), graduates from any of our undergraduate programs meet the educational requirements for registration as a licensed professional engineer.

Our undergraduate programs provide students with opportunities to develop lifelong learning skills and gain hands-on engineering design experience, facilitated by our Design Co-Chairs in the Departments of AMME (Automotive, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering) and ECSE (Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering). Students develop design skills in their area of specialization with an emphasis on teamwork and professional communication. During their final year Capstone courses, our students participate in multidisciplinary design projects; students gain not only the required experience in their field of study, but develop a critical understanding of the team approach to problem solving skills.

Students who are interested in pursuing management careers can choose our engineering and management programs which are designed to develop key management skills in areas such as, operation and project management, finance, human resources, and managerial accounting. Graduates of these programs will have a broad understanding of business and will be ready to take on managerial roles or start their own business. Our students have the opportunity to participate in optional co-op and internship work terms, to gain meaningful and paid engineering experience while exploring possible career options.

We are dedicated to providing students with outstanding services to support them on their educational journey. In addition to the designated faculty members who provide professional mentorship and guidance, a team of experienced academic advisors are available to provide front-line assistance to guide and help our students. We also encourage students to participate in the student chapters of professional associations and other student clubs and organizations on campus.

I invite you to explore our website to learn about the Faculty and the innovative programs we offer. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the faculty members.

Sincerely,

Hossam Kishawy, Ph.D., P.Eng.
