  • Why Participate?

    • Having co-op or internship experience on your transcript can help you get a higher starting salary upon graduation.

    • Acquire up to 12 months of pre-graduation experience towards the required 48 months for PEO Licensing.

     

  • When can I work?

    The Engineering Co-Op and Internship program at UOIT offers flexible work terms.  You can go out for 4, 8, 12, or 16 month placements that start in January, May, or September.

    A Co-Op is a 4-8 month work term, usually taken in the Summer semester after completion of 2nd year. 

    An internship is a 12-16 month work term that usually takes place after completion of 3rd year of a 4 year program, or after the completion of 4th year of a 5 year program.

    While there are many different options for when to go out on placement depending on your individual program map, the most common sequences are below:

  • How to Enroll?

    Any student in FEAS and FESNS with a cumulative GPA of 2.3 and in good standing can enroll to participate in the Engineering Co-Op and Internship program.

    There is no fee charged to enroll in the program. Once you get a job offer, you will pay a co-op/internship fee of $600 for every semester that you are out on placement. This fee is set by the UOIT Board of Governors and is subject to change.

    Follow the steps below to enroll in the program:
    1. Visit www.uoit.ca/careercentre
    2. Click on ‘Career Centre Portal’ in the first paragraph
    3. Click on Student/Recent Graduate
    4. Login with your student number and MyCampus password
    5. Click on ‘Engineering Co-op’ on the left hand side
    6. Choose your program from the list
    7. Complete the application and submit
    8. Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed and then approved with email confirmation
    9. Read the Student Agreement Terms and Conditions for each term and click ‘accept’
    10. The terms will then be ‘Released’
    11. You will then have access to the Co-op and Internship job postings on the portal
